ASSOCIATION OF CHIEF POLICE OFFICERS IN SCOTLAND (ACPOS)
ACPOS stands for Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland. The police service requires that intruder alarm systems must be installed, maintained and managed to a recognised public standard, which is BS4737 and a new European standard EN 50131-1.
The alarm system if monitored must be connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre that operates to BS5979 the British Standard code of practice for remote centres such as one operated by C.S.S since its launch in 1993 one of only two approved centres operating in Scotland.
Any information you may give to the ARC will be held on a computer by the Police service and C.S.S. The data is subject to the data protection act 1998. If the alarm system within the protected premises is connected to the ARC the Police service require that the person attending the premises should be familiar with the operation of the system and be able to attend the premises within twenty minutes and have access to their own transportation. A minimum of two key holders should be registered at the ARC.
The Police service will issue a unique reference number URN for the alarm system for an administration fee of 30.00.
The activations will be recorded on a computer and monitored for what priority the Police service will give to activations.
