We’re Proud to Help Michael Gregson on his Arctic Challenge for Children’s Cancer Charity
When our CEO, Paul Connelly, came across Michael Gregson’s inspiring post about his forthcoming Arctic trek for cancer on LinkedIn, he knew immediately that this was a cause CSS wanted to support.
In February 2025, Michael, a dedicated adventurer, is preparing for an intense Arctic fundraising journey, all in the name of helping young cancer patients through the charity It’s Good 2 Give. This incredible effort involves more than just grit: Michael is braving temperatures as low as -35°C on a 70km Arctic trek for cancer, pulling all his gear on a pulk (sled) and camping in sub-zero conditions.
As Paul commented on LinkedIn, ‘This is a wonderful thing you’re doing for a great cause, Michael. I mean, a proper hard gig… The fulfilment will keep you in free drinks and pats on the head for a long time.’ Paul even recommended one of Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ books to help inspire Michael to keep going, especially when the journey feels tough.
In support of Michael’s ambition, CSS is honoured to donate £1,000 to help him reach his fundraising target of £10,000 for It’s Good 2 Give, a charity that provides critical support to young cancer patients and their families.
The charity also runs the Ripple Retreat, a residential centre on the tranquil shores of Loch Venachar, providing respite to families affected by cancer. Michael’s goal is to help fund these much-needed services, and we at CSS are proud to contribute to such a noble cause. In preparation for this challenge, Michael has been undergoing rigorous training, which includes trekking along the windy Scottish beaches and even using the extreme cold chamber at CryoLabs in Glasgow, where he experienced temperatures as low as -130°C!
Michael’s journey is an inspiring reminder of what one person’s dedication can achieve in the face of a daunting challenge, and CSS is thrilled to be part of it. We wish Michael all the best as he embarks on this Arctic adventure and look forward to cheering him on every step of the way.
