Protecting shop workers and improving retail security
CSS speaks at major retail crime event about

CSS was invited to present at the recent Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) Crime & Security Seminar, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh on 12th February 2026.
Our Sales Director Callum Connelly (pictured above) took to the stage to speak about how CSS is tackling retail crime across Scotland with our security solutions, and how we are dedicated to protecting shop workers from increasing instances of shoplifting, threats and violence.
There has been a 124% increase in the number of shoplifting incidents recorded since 2021.
This year’s Crime Seminar explored rising retail crime trends and prevention strategies. With shoplifting up 17% and violence against staff reaching 21,000 incidents in four years, retailers heard from experts such as CSS on tried-and tested, market-leading security technologies, loss prevention tactics and real-world case studies.
More than 150 attendees, including exhibitors, sponsors and staff from various industries, were invited to explore practical solutions to deter, detect and respond to growing retail crime threats.
SGF Statement:
Crime in members’ stores continues to rise, placing pressure on businesses and affecting staff wellbeing. This event aims to show policymakers the real impact of these offences while giving members practical guidance on making their stores harder targets for criminal activity.
You can watch a short video about the SGF’s recent seminar and also download the latest crime report from their website.
The Scottish government also recently published their updated report on recorded crime in Scotland.
