CSS Collect For Local Food Bank
As a business, an integral part of the CSS ethos has always been to help others in any way we can. Last Christmas, we gathered a high number of donated items, brought in by our staff, for the Carntyne and Riddrie Credit Union.
We are a huge supporter of this organisation, who work all year round to make sure that those with very little can feed themselves and their families. They also collect clothing items, children’s toys and new mum/baby items for those who are unable to afford their own.

This year, we decided that not only did we want to help the Union again with their collection during their busiest period, but we wanted to expand our reach to other food bank collections in the local area.

As well as contributions from our staff, we also wanted to give our customers the opportunity to help by asking hem to contribute to our collection. We received several generous donations brought into our head office. Our engineers also collected donations from customers on their maintenance visit rounds. This was especially helpful to those who are unable to visit a local food bank themselves. Kelsey (CSS Office Administrator), who coordinated the collection said, “It was really great to see everyone get involved in this year’s initiative. I think it can sometimes be easy to lose sight of how fortunate we are.”
In the end we had an overwhelming amount of non-perishable food items, toiletries, baby items and wrapped Christmas gifts for children of various ages.

CSS Christmas Elves, Kelsey and Ian (from our Glasgow Office), delivered our donations to John at the Carntyne and Riddrie Credit Union and Stephen from the GHA (Glasgow Housing Association) (who would then be distributing to various homes in need across Glasgow). Kelsey and Ian were amazed at the volume of items already collected. John explained, “We have people coming in and out all through the day right up until Christmas Eve. There is never anything left over, so every donation, no matter the size makes a huge difference to us.”
We would like to express sincere thanks to you – our loyal customers, from not only CSS but from the Carntyne and Riddrie Credit Union and GHA (Glasgow Housing Association), who are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity. Without your help, the difference we have made to those less fortunate, would not have been possible. We wish you all the very best for 2020.
We would also like to thank Toltech Internet Solutions, our web designer, for their overwhelming donation of food, toiletries, baby items, childrens’ wrapped Christmas gifts and even a decorated tree!
Finally, thank you to our dedicated staff here at CSS. We take extreme pride in our team, who embody the CSS vision in everything they do for the company.

If you would like to make a donation, drop offs can be made to the headquarters of the Carntyne and Riddrie Credit Union at 45b Gartcraig Road, Glasgow, G33 2WX or contact John Lyons at johnlyons1@btinternet.com with any enquiries.
