Elderly / Vulnerable at home in the East End

John and his team of volunteers are providing essential support to vulnerable people and the elderly by means of food parcels and also a daily delivery service of soup and sandwiches.

It started off in the Bridgeton area of Glasgow however, the demand quickly led to it expanding right across Glasgow and now reaching hundreds of individuals and families in need of food support.

Mr Gardner’s initiative has had support from locally based Hyphenz Bistro & The Mungo Foundation and has grown arms and legs from an initial delivery service of 18 individual addresses per day at the start of April up to an impressive 550 addresses per day into the second week in May.

Both businessmen have supported various community-based initiatives throughout their thirty-year business association. This latest one came from Mr Gardner identifying the need to support people during the current Covid-19 crisis. John commented there has been terrific support by two special people, Annemarie & Ian from Hyphenz Bistro volunteering to cook, also volunteer deliver drivers, as well as logistical support by many many individual volunteers in getting SAS to the point of need.

Mr Gardner has self-funded the initiative initially however due to the real needs of those across Glasgow, any monetary donation would be very much appreciated.
