Farewell! John McDaid retires following 37 years’ dedicated service
On Friday 24th July 2026, CSS said goodbye to one of our longest-serving employees as John McDaid retires after nearly 40 years with the company.
It doesn’t feel like two years have passed since we celebrated John’s 35th anniversary with CSS. Hopefully the cake was just as good this year!
As John’s journey with CSS spans nearly four decades, he recalls the early days when Jim (gone but not forgotten), Pat and Paul Connelly gave him a warm welcome, one that set the tone for his entire career with the company. “Like most of us we have had our ups and downs, thankfully mostly ups,” John wrote on LinkedIn.
In response, CSS Director Paul Connelly said, “Big John, you have been a fantastic contributor to the CSS success story”. Paul commended John’s loyalty and thanked him for his service not only to the company and our people, but also to the clients that he looked after. Paul wishes John and his family all the best to pursue his adventures in the years ahead.
Throughout his career with us John has worked in several roles and made good friends across the company. Everyone speaks very highly of him, and his contribution to our client relationships and the company’s operational success has been substantial. He will be missed but we’re glad to see him retire in good health as he goes to spend more time with his family.
