Our History
Established in 1986
CSS was established in 1986 by three brothers: Jim, Pat and Paul Connelly. All three had spent some thirty-five years between them working within the security industry for well-known national companies. They identified a gap in the market for a family owned company that was genuinely committed to customer service. CSS opened for business in the summer of 1986 from a small office in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow. The business grew at a steady and controlled rate and achieved many landmark goals such as 'Investors in People', which was a Scottish first for a security systems company. They opened an alarm receiving centre at a time when many were closing down or being transferred to other countries.
Committed to providing a turn-key service
The brothers were committed to providing a turn-key service to their customers and owning and operating an alarm-receiving centre was crucial in demonstrating their commitment to customers in Scotland.
CSS were the first security systems company in Scotland to be awarded the quality standard BS5750, further demonstrating our continual investment in customer care and quality products.
Key to success
The Connellys' business approach is the key to their success, which is to be committed to customer service, and remain accessible to both staff and customers alike. People buy from people and customers prefer to buy security services following advice from the staff and directors at CSS. We have now set our stall out for continuing to develop and commit to customers old and new over the next five year business plan.
Acquisitions
Over the years CSS has broadened its service to other companies by acquisition.
These came along at a time when owners were retiring and had no natural succession.
Many of the staff have been working with the company for over 25 years. The average length of service is 14 years.
Long-term goals
The development has been very fruitful in demonstrating the long-term goals of the business in responding to the needs and demands of the customer base across Scotland.
By the end of 2002, CSS had outgrown three business premises in Bishopbriggs and had a purpose-built operating facility and new Alarm Receiving Centre constructed in Glasgow. This facility was completed in the summer of 2004.
