How good home security can keep the Big Bad Wolf from your door

The story of The Three Little Pigs is a valuable lesson for us here at CSS and one we’d like to share with our customers. So here’s the story as we see it…

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who were content lying in their mud bath in the sun. One day their mother told them it was time they lived in their own homes and so they set off in search of a plot of land.

Our first little pig didn’t like to spend money, he preferred saving it. He visited his local builders’ merchants but decided the materials were too expensive. He headed off to the garden centre across the street and bought himself a few bales of straw, happy with the lower price. After some trial and error, the little pig completed his house, impressed by his own efforts.

His brothers advised him to install an alarm in case the big bad wolf came sniffing around. Agreeing with them, the little pig headed off to the hardware store once more. Not wanting to waste money, he bought a fake alarm cover for the outside of his house, convinced the wolf wouldn’t know the difference.

Slightly older and wiser, the second little pig liked his brother’s home but wanted his to be more robust than straw. He searched the forest gathering sticks, carrying them back and forth until he had enough to build his house. A few days later, he stood admiring his new home.

“Wait till mum and dad see this,” he said to his brothers, “they’ll be so proud.”

“You need security,” said the brothers, “or the big bad wolf will break in and steal your computer and iPhone.”

Realising they were correct, he too headed to the store and bought himself a home alarm kit. He didn’t bother reading the instructions and placed sensors and cameras where he thought best. For two days he tried to get his iPhone to talk to the sensors but gave up thinking there was little chance the big bad wolf would come to his house.

The pigs played in the yard while the third little pig started his house. He decided to build his house with red brick. He wanted a proper fence and an alarm system with the latest technology. He completed his house as the team of engineers from CSS arrived to install a professional alarm system. The other pigs questioned him on why he wouldn’t fit his own alarm as it was cheaper. As the little pig sat back on his deckchair he smiled, ‘I’d rather pay a professional to keep my house and possessions safe than risk everything on some cheap alarm system.”

Engineers from Connelly Security Systems installed then trained the little pig on how to set the alarm. They connected all the wireless parts to his iPhone and iPad and waved as they left.

Dancing round a fire that evening, the three little pigs celebrated the completion of their new homes.

A week went past, and they each sat in their new homes enjoying their new lifestyles, not knowing danger was lurking up ahead. From the deepest part of the darkest forest a shape emerged through the mist. Breathing heavily with drool dripping from the sharp teeth protruding from its mouth, the wolf’s yellowed eyes searched for food. The wolf was hungry and cold and on the prowl. He spotted the new houses and made his way towards them creeping along the hedgerows. He approached the straw house first and looked through the window. A little pig sat with his feet up watching ‘Neighbours’ on the telly.

The wolf crept around the house and spotted the fake alarm box and laughed – ‘Why bother,’ he thought.

He hammered the door with his fist, startling the little pig.

“Open the door and let me in” he shouted.

The little pig hid behind his settee and replied, “Not by the hair of my chinny chin, chin.”

“Okay, well I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down.”

It was at this moment the little pig wished he had bought a proper alarm to sound off and to warn his brothers.

Stepping back, the wolf took a deep breath. He huffed and puffed and blew and blew until the straw house fell down. Scrambling out from below the straw the pig ran through the debris the wolf chasing after him. Running at full speed he reached his brother’s house, slamming the door behind him.

His brother, surprised by the sudden intrusion, smiled at him from his hot tub.

“What’s happening?”

Frightened, the little pig couldn’t speak his teeth chattering – “B-B-B-Big, B-B-B-Bad, W-W-W-Wolf.”

His brother leapt out his hot tub, covering his rasher and grabbed his iPhone.

Angry, the wolf stood outside howling.

“Open the door and let me in.”

Positive his house was secure from the wolf, the second little pig laughed bravely, “not by the hair of my chinny chin, chin.”

He pressed his iPhone to set off the alarm and to record what was happening. Unfortunately, the music turned on and his lights went out. Each time he pressed the button, something different happened.

“Oh dear, I should have read those alarm manuals.”

Just then, the wolf leaned in the window, picked up his security camera and threw it into the forest. Again, he huffed and puffed and blew the house of sticks down. The pigs scrambled for their lives and ran to their brother’s brick-built house with the wolf walking slowly behind them.

“Let us in,” they shouted as they rang the bell.

The third little pig looked at his app and saw his brothers faces on his doorbell camera. He pressed a button to open his door. They tumbled in falling on the plush carpet. He locked the door behind them.

“Look out, the big bad wolf is coming for us, we need to get away from here,” they said.

The third little pig turned on his alarms installed by CSS.

That wolf won’t come here.

As the first two pigs stared out the window, the third one watched the Dukes of Hazzard. Boss Hogg was his favourite character.

Through the darkness the wolf approached the house. He surveyed the fence and started to climb over it. As soon as he touched it, the security lights turned on and the cameras started to record. The security team at CSS were alerted and spoke to the wolf through a loud speaker system.

“This property is protected by CSS. Move away from the building.”

Starving, the wolf ignored them and continued in search of the pigs.

“We have called the police,” the camera operator said pressing the alarm button.

The wolf walked towards the house and could see the alarm box with the CSS logo. A bright blue light was flashing alerting him that this alarm was the real deal. He peered through the window and saw the pigs. Licking his lips he could see tonight’s dinner. The wolf pushed hard on the window frame; it didn’t budge. Security bolts held the window in place. Checking around the house for a point of entry the wolf’s every move was followed by the little pig who owned the house.

The wolf shouted once again, “open the door and let me in.”

The third little pig laughed, “not by the hair of my chinny chin, chin.”

“Okay, you’ve had your chance. I’m going to huff and puff and blow your house down.”

“Seriously, did you just say that?”

“Yeah. Why?”

“Go on then, give it your best shot. By the way, the police will be here in under three minutes.”

“You’re lying,” said the wolf.

He stepped back and took a deep breath, he huffed and puffed and blew at the brick house but nothing happened. He tried again and again exhausting himself. The team at Connelly Security Systems filmed the scene gathering evidence for the police.

“Let me in!” screamed the wolf.

Sirens wailed and blue lights flashed in the distance as the police raced towards the little pig’s house.

The wolf climbed up the drainpipe and shimmied along the roof till he reached the chimney.

“Let’s see who gets you now,” he shouted down to the pigs.

He slid down the chimney straight into a big pot of water, boiling on the fireplace. Screaming, he ran around the room.

The police rushed in through the door and handcuffed the wolf.

“This isn’t how it was meant to end,” said the wolf. “Those pigs were going to be my supper.”

The three little pigs laughed, “well thanks to a real alarm from Connelly Security Systems we’re safe, and you’re heading to jail.”
