New arrivals
Congratulations to Andy and Ashley Patterson (both employees of our Graham Robertson business) as they celebrated the birth of their first child Myles John Patterson. All went well with the baby coming in at 7.15 lbs.
Also congratulations to Paul Davidson and his partner Eilidh. They welcomed the birth of their beautiful baby daughter Katy coming into the world at 8.5 lbs. Everyone wishes them all the very best for the future and as every parent knows, things change a lot now…
AFA news
Congratulations to father and son John and James Ferguson as well as Willie Harrison who all successfully completed their apprenticeships. The guys are based out of our West Lothian branch AFA Fire and Security. The AFA team designed, installed and handed over a completed £250k CCTV to one of our key clients based in Livingston. The contract came in on time and within budget.
CSS news
Congratulations to Reiss Moran, Liam Conway and Jacek Kwiecien on passing their Apprenticeship. Both Reiss and Liam are based at our Glasgow CSS branch and carry out work for AFA and CSS.
Jacek (far right) was fast-tracked into the 2nd year of his apprenticeship as his performance was amazing. At 44 with family commitments, Jacek has shown fantastic determination and commitment. We are extremely impressed with all of our apprentice’s performance and can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Mark Brodie (the business poster boy) celebrates his 50th birthday very soon. He doesn’t look a day over 40; he really doesn’t!

Wishing Billy well in his retirement
Billy Dolan one of the CSS longest serving employees is finally, finally, hanging up his boots. Billy celebrated his 25 years service a couple of years ago and he’s decided it is time to retire. We are immensely thankful to Billy for his unrelenting dedication and service to his job within our alarm receiving centre. His dry wit is favoured by hundreds of customers who speak with him weekly as well as our third party ARC customers. Billy has been quite a character to know but hopeless as a horse pundit! He is one of those people who never complains and managed to get to his work come rain or shine for over 25 years. Also, having said that he lives the furthest away from his Glasgow workplace than anyone else and remarkably used public transport! We will all miss you very much Billy – you deserve to take it easy.
Investing for the future with new apprentices
We have just recruited five new apprentices as we continue to invest in our young people and also the future of our business for succession planning. CSS celebrates 35 years in business in 2021 and we are at the stage where some of our people are retiring in the next few years. It is important that the new people are aware of our culture and what it means to be a part of a genuine family business concern. We are pleased that due to the commitment our customers bestow upon us we have recruited a further nine new people to assist in our businesses development to support our customer base.
CSS Managing Director Paul Connelly’s son Lewis Connelly has joined the business as an apprentice electrician and joins brothers Declan (9 years service) and Callum (12 years service). All three sons are now on board, maybe Paul’s grandson Shay (2) is one for the future who knows.
Another 25 year service award
At the other end of the career ladder, Alan Fitzpatrick celebrates his 25th year as a loyal CSS employee and we are very grateful to Alan’s dedication and continuing support. Alan is a stalwart of the ARC staff.
Almost back to full staff
Of our 130 employees with the exception of 6 that are still furloughed, all are back at work full time. That’s great after all these months of uncertainty.
