Fire Alarms in Scotland
New Scottish Fire and Rescue Service response to automatic fire alarms
Are you prepared for unwanted Fire Alarm Signals? (UFAS)
CSS Ltd would like to alert our customers about an upcoming change in how fire alarms at commercial premises will be dealt with.
With effect on 1st July 2023, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) will stop attending unwanted fire alarm signals
unless a fire has been confirmed in line with the SFRS guidance.
This change does not apply to premises with sleeping occupants
As a result of this change, from 1st July 2023 the CSS Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) will no longer be able to contact the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service directly if we receive a fire alarm signal from your premises unless specific criteria put forward by SFRS are met.
CSS are offering a UFAS technical audit for fire detection and alarm systems we currently maintain and monitor
to establish if your current fire detection and alarm system meets the criteria or has the capability to do so.
Each site technical audit will be carried out at a cost of £520.00 (ex VAT).
CSS are unable to give advice other than that offered during and after the UFAS technical audit
as all information must be site specific.
