A Fond Farewell to Iain Walker After 33 Years of Service

After more than three decades of loyal service, we say farewell to our long-standing Commercial Manager Iain Walker, who has officially retired from CSS.
Iain’s career in the fire and security industry spans back to the early 1980s, where he and CSS Director Paul Connelly first worked together as engineers at Modern Alarms. From night shifts to emergency call-outs, the early days of their partnership laid the foundations of what would later become a longstanding collaboration at CSS.
Iain joined the company in its early growth stages, contributing across various roles and helping to shape the commercial side of the business with his professionalism and dry wit. He became a trusted face to many clients and colleagues alike, known not only for his reliability but for his unique sense of humour and steady presence.
Paul wrote on LinkedIn: “He has a wicked sense of humour, very, very dry… We will miss him on a daily basis, but it’s not goodbye… he lives nearby and likes talking.”
Back in April, the CSS team got together for a heartfelt dinner in Iain’s honour. We had quite an emotional night, sharing great memories of working with Iain and also of the journey we’ve all been part of over the years, remembering colleagues that are no longer with us and the friendships we’ve built over time.
Iain will be missed daily, but we know this next chapter will be a fulfilling one. He now looks forward to spending more time with his wife Sandra, son Craig, daughter Claire and his grandchildren, alongside his passion for travel and rambling with his local walking group.
From all of us at CSS, thank you, Iain. It’s not goodbye — you’re only down the road — and we’re sure we’ll be seeing you soon.
