Requirements

A volume of small retail goods have been lost to shoplifters. Staff till area at top end of store impacts on ability to monitor shop floor space throughout day, particularly near the exit at the other end and the half partition. Existing CCTV was able to identify incidents after the event.

Retail security upgrade


The shop is currently secured by CSS for their intruder alarm monitoring and maintenance. They approached CSS to design and install a security system fit for purpose that would immediately identify unpaid retail items before the individual exits the shop without paying for them and stop further stock loss.

Obstacles

Installing and commissioning the system to meet the needs of this shop without impacting on opening times and trading.

Solution

CSS provided design and installation of the following systems commencing at 7am and fitted by shop opening hours at 9.20am. Software commissioning was completed by 10am.

1. A single Sensormatic Synergy high performance retail tagging system with 1m coverage in both directions at the exit walkway and half partition to pick up any passing tagged items still activated.

2. Countertop de-activator with supply of 10,000 sticky label high performance tags to be placed on each shelf item.

3. Successful training and demonstration of de-activation of labels and operational pedestal alarm alert as tagged item approaches exit. Only de-activated items passing without alarming alert.

Outcome

CSS met all client deadlines and handed over fully operational retail tagging system supported by locally delivered inclusive maintenance and servicing for this market leading Sensormatic product. Sticky label tags kept locally in stock for prompt replenishment of shop tagging.

Feedback
